(NEW YORK)(March 29, 2008) Chicago-based human rights activist and Internet columnist Andy Martin will hold an 11:00 A.M. Washington, DC news conference Saturday, March 29th, to announce that he favors a boycott of the Beijing Olympics and Chinese products to support liberation for the people of Tibet.

"We will never satiate the Chinese gangsters in Beijing so long as we keep feeding them with obeisance and genuflection," Martin will say. "China is committing cultural genocide against Tibet. The Chinese government is engaging in ethnic cleansing of Tibet. Why are world leaders merely wringing their hands? Why are people silent?

"It is time to put the liberation of Tibet on the United Nations' human rights agenda. It is time for the invasion and conquest of Tibet over half a century ago to be reversed. By what right do the Chinese keep Tibet enslaved?"

Martin is a notoriously lethal Internet warrior. He launched the legal offensive that ensnared Microsoft Corporation in scrutiny by the European Union and U. S. state attorneys general, as well as fighting the U. S. Department of Justice for more vigorous enforcement. Martin's investigative commentaries on Senator Barack Obama's religious roots and links to Chicago influence peddlers have become a chronic problem for the presidential candidate. "Warfare on the Internet is different," Martin says. "We don't expect to win the entire battle. If we win only a fraction we bleed the adversary to death. We will defeat China on the margins by delegitimizing the Olympics on the Internet.

"I urge every American to Boycott the Beijing Olympics, to boycott Chinese products, and to boycott advertisers and media that continue to support these blood-soaked Olympics.

"The Chinese junta has contemptuously reneged on every promise that was made to secure the Olympics. Instead of liberalization, we see mass arrests, torture, kangaroo courts for dissidents, and additional subjugation of Tibet.

"I was moved to action by a mean-spirited op-ed piece in the New York Times that said we should sit back do nothing and enjoy the Olympics. The world knows what happened when democracies remained silent during the 1930's.

"I have a great deal of affection and admiration for the people of China. I studied Chinese and briefly lived in Hong Kong. So I am not someone who wants to hurt China or the Chinese. China and America have a great future together.

"But for Americans to pretend that there is 'business as usual' in Beijing while China terrorizes and enslaves Tibet is morally wrong. For trade relations and media relations to proceed on a normal basis when we know that media freedoms are being severely restricted and the 'usual suspects' are being rounded up, is a miscarriage of what the Western World reveres: freedom of thought, freedom of speech, freedom of religion. Human Rights.

"I call on President Bush not merely to condemn the repression in Tibet but to take strong action and suspend American participation in the games until China withdraws from Tibet and allows that nation to be free again. I call on Americans to tighten their belts, and look for ways to avoid Chinese products. Republicans should join hands and be in the vanguard of the battle for human rights and freedom for Tibet.

"If we start now, we can develop an alternative location for the Olympics, possibly in Europe or the Middle East where existing facilities could be renewed. If we do nothing but wring our hands at the carnage in Tibet soon we will be saying there is 'no alternative' to the Beijing games. There are alternatives and we must explore them," Martin will state. "Now, before it is too late."

Andy Martin has been outspoken on behalf of human rights at home in the United States, in Europe and in the Middle East. His Human Rights Petition to the French Government helped secure the release of imprisoned journalists after the death of Princess Diana.
